Barbara Buttrick is the iconic boxer and wrestler from Hull who won a world title fight in 1957. She fought her way from fairground boxing booths in France, England and America to win the World Women’s Bantamweight Championship. Not bad for a girl from Hessle! Karen is a young boxer from Hull who, inspired by Barbara’s story, wants to use her boxing skills to improve her own situation. She tells Barbara’s story intertwined with her own, because everybody needs a hero!
